Preparation Steps
In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, olive oil, brown sugar, oregano, and black pepper.
Place the tri-tip in a resealable bag or a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it, ensuring all sides are coated.
Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.
Grill or smoke the tri-tip according to your preferred method, until it reaches an internal temperature of 130-135°F for medium-rare.
Let the tri-tip rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For a spicier marinade, add a pinch of red pepper flakes. You can also adjust the amount of brown sugar to your liking.
