Top Round Roast Beef Recipe

A simple and delicious recipe for tender and flavorful top round roast beef, perfect for a Sunday dinner.

  • 3 pound Top Round Roast Beef
  • 2 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 4 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 sprig Rosemary fresh
  • 1 sprig Thyme fresh

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
  • Pat the roast beef dry with paper towels.
  • Rub the roast with olive oil, salt, and black pepper.

  • Press the minced garlic and fresh rosemary and thyme onto the roast.

  • Place the roast in a roasting pan.
  • Roast for approximately 20-25 minutes per pound for medium-rare (130-135°F/54-57°C), or longer for your desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature.
  • Once cooked, remove the roast from the oven and let it rest for at least 15-20 minutes before slicing.
  • Slice the roast beef against the grain and serve.

Notes

For a richer flavor, you can add a cup of beef broth to the bottom of the roasting pan. This recipe can also be made ahead and reheated gently.
