Preparation Steps
Prepare and bake the cake mix according to package instructions. Allow to cool completely.
Using a fork, poke holes all over the cooled cake.
In a medium bowl, combine the strawberry Jell-O with boiling water and stir until dissolved. Add cold water and mix well.
Pour the liquid Jell-O evenly over the cake. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Spread the whipped topping over the chilled cake before serving.
