  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 0.5 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation Steps

  • Cook macaroni according to package directions.
  • In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour until smooth.
  • Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly.
  • Reduce heat to low and stir in cheeses until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Add cooked macaroni and stir to combine. Serve immediately.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use a combination of cheeses. You can also add cooked bacon or ham for extra protein.
