Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 1.5 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour sifted
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.75 cup butter softened
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar packed
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1.5 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  • Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  • Fold in oats and chocolate chips.
  • Drop spoonfuls of dough onto prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake for 10 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a chewier texture, refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
