Preparation Steps
In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, butter, and evaporated milk. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
Boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens.
Remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips and vanilla extract until melted and smooth.
Pour into a buttered 8x8 inch pan. Let cool completely before cutting into squares.

Store fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
