Honey Sesame Chicken

A delicious and easy honey sesame chicken recipe that's perfect for a weeknight meal. It's made with simple ingredients and is packed with flavor!

Ingredients
  

Chicken Marinade

  • 1.5 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder

Honey Sesame Sauce

  • 0.5 cup honey
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional

For Cooking

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds toasted, for garnish
  • 0.5 bunch green onions sliced, for garnish

Preparation Steps

  • In a medium bowl, combine the chicken pieces with the marinade ingredients. Toss to coat evenly and let marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes.
  • While the chicken is marinating, whisk together all the honey sesame sauce ingredients in a small bowl until smooth. Set aside.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add the marinated chicken to the hot skillet in a single layer. Cook for 5-7 minutes, flipping halfway through, until browned and cooked through.
  • Pour the honey sesame sauce over the chicken. Stir continuously until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove from heat. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
  • Serve hot with rice or your favorite side dishes.

Notes

This honey sesame chicken is incredibly versatile. Feel free to adjust the sweetness or spiciness to your liking. It pairs wonderfully with steamed rice, noodles, or a fresh side salad.
