Homemade Toffee Bits

These homemade toffee bits are incredibly easy to make and taste far superior to store-bought versions. They're perfect for adding to cookies, brownies, or enjoying on their own!

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup light corn syrup
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Preparation Steps

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, corn syrup, butter, and salt. Stir constantly until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture comes to a boil.
  • Continue to boil, without stirring, until the mixture reaches 300°F (150°C) on a candy thermometer (firm-ball stage).
  • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  • Pour the toffee onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it evenly to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  • Let cool completely before breaking into pieces.

Notes

Store toffee bits in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
