Hamburger Steaks with Onion Gravy

Juicy hamburger steaks smothered in a rich and flavorful onion gravy. A classic comfort food recipe!

  • 1.5 lbs Ground beef (80/20) Can substitute with ground chuck
  • 1 large Onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Beef broth
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper

Preparation Steps

  • In a large bowl, gently combine ground beef, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 patties.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add patties and cook for about 5 minutes per side, or until browned.
  • Remove patties from skillet and set aside. Add chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened.
  • Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in beef broth until smooth. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened.
  • Return patties to the skillet and spoon gravy over them. Serve hot.

Notes

Serve with mashed potatoes or your favorite sides.
