  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 0.5 cup sugar plus more for topping
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg freshly grated

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Cut or tear the bread into 1-inch cubes and place into the prepared baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring all pieces are well coated.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is set.

Notes

For a sweeter topping, sprinkle more sugar on top before baking.
