French Onion Sausage Rolls

Flaky pastry filled with savory French onion and sausage filling. Perfect for appetizers or a light meal.

  • 1 lb Sausage meat Mild Italian sausage recommended
  • 2 large Onions thinly sliced
  • 1 cup Beef broth
  • 1 package Refrigerated puff pastry
  • 1 tsp Thyme
  • 1 tsp Salt

Preparation Steps

  • In a large skillet, brown the sausage meat over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  • Add the sliced onions to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the beef broth and thyme and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Season with salt to taste. Let the mixture cool completely.
  • Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Spread the cooled sausage and onion mixture evenly over the pastry.
  • Roll up the pastry tightly into a log. Cut into 1-inch slices.
  • Place the sausage rolls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
