French Dip Sandwich Recipe

A classic French Dip sandwich recipe featuring tender roast beef, melted cheese, and a flavorful au jus for dipping.

  • 1 lb Roast Beef Thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces French bread A good quality bread
  • 4 slices Provolone cheese
  • 2 cups Beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Slice the French bread lengthwise and spread with Dijon mustard.
  • Layer the roast beef and provolone cheese on the bottom half of the bread.
  • Top with the other half of the bread.
  • Bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is toasted.
  • Meanwhile, heat the beef broth in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Serve the sandwich immediately, with the warm beef broth for dipping.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use a good quality beef broth. You can also add other vegetables to the broth, such as onions, carrots, or celery.
