Prep : 10 Total : 25 minutes

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup red candy melts
  • 0.5 cup blue candy melts
  • 2 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 6 Tbsp confectioners sugar
  • 2 Tbsp vegetable shortening
  • 0.5 cup red M&Ms (white & blue M&Ms)
  • 0.5 cup yogurt covered raisins
  • 2 cups yogurt covered pretzels

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • In a double boiler or microwave-safe bowl, melt the red candy melts with 1 tablespoon of shortening. If using the microwave, heat in 30-second increments, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. If using a double boiler, heat over medium-high heat and stir frequently until smooth.
  • While the candy is melting, place 3 tablespoons of powdered sugar in a large zip-close baggie. Lay out a piece of parchment or wax paper for cooling the cereal.
  • Once the candy has melted, pour in one cup of Rice Chex cereal. Gently stir until the cereal is completely and evenly coated with the candy mixture.
  • Spoon the coated cereal into the baggie and gently toss and shake the bag to coat the cereal with powdered sugar. Pour the covered cereal into a sieve and shake to remove excess powdered sugar.
  • Spread evenly across the prepared wax paper or parchment to cool and harden.
  • Repeat the melting and coating process with the blue candy melts and the second cup of Chex cereal.
  • Once your Chex cereal is completely cooled, it's time to assemble the snack mix.
  • In a large bowl, combine the red and blue Chex cereal, yogurt-covered pretzels, M&Ms, and yogurt-covered raisins. Gently stir to evenly distribute all the ingredients.
  • Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.

Notes
