This easy fried cabbage recipe is a classic comfort food side dish, quick to make and bursting with flavor. Perfect alongside your favorite main courses!
Cook the bacon in a large skillet or pot over medium heat until crispy. Remove bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside on a paper towel-lined plate. Leave about 1-2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the skillet.
Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the bacon grease. Cook until softened and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Add the thinly sliced cabbage to the skillet. Stir to combine with the onions and garlic.
Pour in the chicken broth. Season with salt and pepper.
Cover the skillet and cook for 5-10 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender and has wilted to your desired consistency. Stir occasionally.
Stir the reserved crispy bacon back into the cabbage. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
Serve hot as a delicious side dish.
