Instructions
Preparation Steps
Cut cheese sticks in half to create 24 pieces and freeze until solid.
Whisk the egg in a small bowl. Place the flour in a separate dish.
Combine breadcrumbs, panko, parmesan cheese, and dried parsley in another bowl.
Dip frozen cheese pieces in flour, shaking off any excess, then dip in beaten egg, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
Place coated cheese sticks on a wax paper-lined tray. Freeze again for at least 1 hour to firm up.
Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and lightly spray with olive oil cooking spray.
Place frozen mozzarella sticks on the prepared baking sheet. Spray tops lightly with cooking spray.
Bake in the lower third of the oven for 4 to 5 minutes until the bottoms are crisp.
Turn sticks over and bake an additional 4 to 5 minutes, watching carefully to prevent melting.
Notes
For best results, do not skip the freezing steps to keep sticks from melting during baking. Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
