Preparation Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a muffin tin.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  • In another bowl, mix together the egg, milk, and melted butter.
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  • Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Notes

For an extra-special touch, dip the tops of warm muffins in melted butter and then in a cinnamon-sugar mixture.
