  • 500 g Quark full-fat or low-fat
  • 1 Large Onion finely chopped
  • 2 Cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper diced
  • 1 Yellow Bell Pepper diced
  • 200 g Mushrooms sliced
  • 100 g Spinach fresh or frozen, thawed and squeezed dry
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Dill chopped
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Chives chopped
  • 0.5 tsp Ground Nutmeg
  • Salt and Black Pepper to taste
  • Lemon wedges for serving (optional)

Preparation Steps

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  • Add the diced bell peppers and sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender and slightly browned, about 10 minutes. If using frozen spinach, make sure it's thoroughly thawed and squeezed dry before adding it. Add the spinach to the skillet and cook for another 2-3 minutes until wilted.
  • Reduce the heat to low. Add the quark to the skillet and gently stir to combine it with the vegetables. Be careful not to overheat the quark, as it can become grainy.
  • Stir in the chopped dill, chives, and ground nutmeg. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Adjust the seasoning according to your preference.
  • Let the mixture simmer gently for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld together. Be sure to stir frequently to prevent sticking.
  • Serve the creamy quark delight warm, garnished with fresh herbs. A squeeze of lemon juice can brighten the flavors. Enjoy as a light lunch, a quick dinner, or a flavorful side dish. It pairs well with crusty bread or a simple salad.
