  • 1 large broccoli head cut into small florets
  • 1 large cauliflower head cut into small florets
  • 0.5 cup red onion finely chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup sunflower seeds or chopped walnuts
  • 0.5 cup dried cranberries or raisins
  • 6 slices bacon cooked and crumbled (optional)

Dressing

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 0.25 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar or honey
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation Steps

  • Wash the broccoli and cauliflower thoroughly. Cut them into small, bite-sized florets. Place them in a large mixing bowl.
  • Add the chopped red onion, shredded cheddar cheese, sunflower seeds (or walnuts), dried cranberries (or raisins), and crumbled bacon (if using) to the bowl with the broccoli and cauliflower.
  • In a separate small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream (or Greek yogurt), apple cider vinegar, sugar (or honey), and Dijon mustard until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Pour the dressing over the vegetables and other ingredients in the large bowl. Gently toss everything together until well coated.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or preferably 1-2 hours, to allow the flavors to meld together. This also helps the broccoli and cauliflower soften slightly.
  • Before serving, give the salad another gentle toss. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve chilled and enjoy!
