Crab Mac and Cheese

A creamy, cheesy mac and cheese elevated with the sweet flavor of crab meat. This recipe is perfect for a special occasion or a comforting weeknight meal.

  • 1 pound elbow macaroni
  • 1 pound lump crab meat picked over for shells
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup parmesan cheese grated
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.125 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation Steps

  • Cook macaroni according to package directions.
  • In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  • Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly.
  • Reduce heat to low and stir in cheddar cheese, parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper until melted and smooth.
  • Stir in cooked macaroni and crab meat. Serve immediately.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use a combination of cheeses. You can also add other vegetables, such as chopped broccoli or peas.
