These delicious chocolate chip scones are easy to make and perfect for breakfast or a sweet treat.

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Cold unsalted butter Cut into cubes
  • 3 Large eggs
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 cup Chocolate chips

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Cut in cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, and buttermilk.
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Stir in chocolate chips.
  • Drop by rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

These scones are best served fresh. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
