Preparation Steps
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.

Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are golden brown and centers are still slightly soft.
Let cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For extra chewy cookies, slightly underbake them. For crisper cookies, bake them a minute or two longer.
