  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, salt, and cocoa powder.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set.
  • Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
