  • 2 cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 stick unsalted butter cubed
  • 3 tablespoons ice water more if needed
  • 3 cups apples peeled and diced
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Preparation Steps

  • In a bowl, mix flour and salt. Add butter and mix until crumbly.
  • Add ice water gradually until dough forms. Chill for 30 minutes.
  • Roll out dough and cut into circles.
  • In a saucepan, cook apples, caramel, and cinnamon until apples are tender.
  • Place filling on dough circles, fold, and seal edges.
  • Bake at 375°F for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

These empanadas are best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
