  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar packed
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup cold unsalted butter cubed
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1 egg large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Cut in cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Press the crumb mixture into the prepared pan.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the corn syrup, egg, and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the corn syrup mixture evenly over the crumb crust.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the filling is set and the edges are golden brown.
  • Let cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

Store leftover tart squares in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
