  • 6 cups Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 0.5 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.5 cup rolled oats
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup chopped walnuts
  • 0.5 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine apples, cranberries, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • In a separate bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, walnuts, and butter. Use your fingers or a pastry blender to cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Pour the apple mixture into a greased 8x8 inch baking dish. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apple mixture.
  • Bake for 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
