4th of July cookies

These colorful 4th of July cookies are perfect for celebrating Independence Day with friends and family.

  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1 cup red and blue sprinkles

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  • Combine flour and baking powder, add to the creamed mixture, and mix well.
  • Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and roll the balls in sprinkles. Place them on ungreased cookie sheets about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven, or until bottom is golden.

Notes

Let cookies cool on the cookie sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
