OVEN FRIED POTATOES & ONIONS

Oven Fried Potatoes & Onions are the perfect combination of crispy, golden potatoes and caramelized onions, all roasted to perfection in the oven. This simple, yet flavorful side dish is a great accompaniment to any meal, offering a satisfying crunch and savory flavor without the mess of deep frying. With minimal prep and a little time in the oven, you’ll have a dish that everyone will love!

Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into wedges
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • ½ tsp salt, or to taste
  • ¼ tsp black pepper, or to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the Potatoes and Onions: In a large bowl, toss the potato wedges and onion slices with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Arrange on a Baking Sheet: Spread the potatoes and onions in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat for easy cleanup.
  4. Roast: Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, or until the potatoes are golden and crispy, flipping halfway through the cooking time for even browning.
  5. Serve: Remove from the oven and serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs or a sprinkle of extra seasoning if desired.

Notes

  • Cut Evenly: Make sure to cut the potatoes into similar-sized wedges to ensure even cooking.
  • Extra Crisp: For even crispier potatoes, broil for the last 2–3 minutes of cooking, watching closely to avoid burning.
  • Substitutions: You can use sweet potatoes for a slightly sweeter variation or swap out the thyme for rosemary for a different flavor.
  • Add Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheese (cheddar, Parmesan, or mozzarella) over the potatoes in the last few minutes of baking for a cheesy twist.
  • Storage: Leftover potatoes can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven to keep them crispy.

Oven Fried Potatoes & Onions are a versatile, easy-to-make side dish that’s perfect for any occasion. With its crispy texture and savory flavors, it’s sure to be a hit at your table!
